Written for his mother, and aptly named where she was born, ‘Mrs Ellen McRae of Poplar’. This composition consists of a four parted 6/4 Waltz. Again an audio sample can be found below, consisting of the first part played twice through and one line from the second.

Composed in collaboration with his father, George McRae, who was pinnacle in Matthews’ piping development at an early age. This composition consists of a two parted 4/4 March. Again an audio sample can be found below, consisting of the first part played twice through.
