Introducing Danny
Bio
Danny currently works as a full time bagpiper in various capacities and for the last few years his main area of focus has been in manufacturing bagpipes and learning the ropes in how our beautiful instrument is made.
Danny graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2020 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Traditional Music – Piping.
On the performance side of things Danny plays with Drums N’ Roses, Aceltica (whistles & Pipes) & more recently the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. He was also a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland finishing up his time as a Pipe Major as well as competing with Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia in Grade 1. To date, Danny’s most memorable performances have been with Drums N’ Roses – playing at Murrayfield for the Scotland vs France game with over 100 dancers and then on that same day, playing at the OVO Hydro for Josh Taylor’s entrance to the Taylor vs Catterall fight that was broadcast on Sky Sports.
On the teaching side of things Danny spends two days a week in the National Piping Centre teaching individuals and group lessons. One day a week he teach for East Renfrewshire council, as well as having a cohort of private pupils.
Danny enjoys composing new music and work as a writer for the magazine ‘Modern Piping’, led by Lincoln Hilton.
