Introducing Ed
Bio
Ed was taught the bagpipes as a child and has been playing for over 25 years. He has played and competed with various pipe bands along the years and now competes with a successful band in the north of England. He teaches the bagpipes privately and is also employed by the M.O.D to teach the bagpipes at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate to junior soldiers.
Ed has appeared playing at weddings on both ‘The Dales’ and ‘The Lakes’ which are hit ITV programmes. He has performed at 1000’s of weddings, funerals, parties, and other events. Ed has a New Years Eve residency at the Thorpe Park Hotel in Leeds, as well as Napoleon’s Casino in Sheffield. He also receives repeat Burns’ Night bookings from Loch Fyne in Sheffield.

What made you learn?
“Ed learned to play at the age of 10. Coming from a Scottish family he was brought up with Scottish and Irish music. He had frequent trips to Scotland and whenever he saw a bagpiper he was always mesmerised by the sound. Ed’s mother found him a teacher when he was around the age of 10 and that was the start of a lifetime of piping”
