Jamie

From a young age Jamie has always been enthusiastic about piping. He was taught under the instruction of Matt Wilson who is a well regarded tutor at the Dollar Academy of Piping.

Jamie firstly competed in the Juvenile grade for 4 years, and after numerous triumphs and years’ of experience, he joined Johnstone Pipe Band where he won the British and European Piping Championships at Grade 3B. They accumulated enough points that season to be crowned Champion of Champions which was an extremely prestigious honour. From 2019 – 2023, Jamie was competing at the highest level within Johnstone Pipe Band who have now cemented their place as a consistently successful competitive pipe band within Grade 1.

When Jamie moved to Glasgow to study at the University of Strathclyde, he enrolled in the Officers Training Corps’ where he would perform at high profile military engagements. The most high profile of these was piping at the 200th Anniversary of Naval Services at Faslane Naval Base in Helensburgh as a lone piper.

Jamie has performed at some incredibly prestigious venues & events, including, regularly playing for big rugby matches at Murrayfield, playing on a televised broadcast for the opening of Scottish Parliament in 2011, performing in 2011 for another televised feature on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, and performing at the British Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for a St. Andrews day event.
