Introducing Luke

Bio

Luke learned the bagpipes at the age of 10. Now with a decade of experience under his belt, Luke is now playing at the highest level as a member of sixteen times World Champions Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band.

Luke has played at many weddings, funerals and corporate functions. He is a former member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and has played within the grounds of many famous venues such as; the OVO Hydro, Dumfries House, the Titanic Museum in Belfast, Buckingham Palace for HM King Charles III, the Festival Avenches Tattoo in Switzerland and lastly touring around Germany for 3 weeks as part of ‘Highland Saga’.

Luke is also a senior solo competitive piper. Having won many top solo competitions including the Scots Guards Solos and the world famous ‘Pipe Idol’ competition in the summer of 2022.

What made you learn?

“When Luke was a young boy, his mum encouraged him to learn an instrument. Initially Luke didn’t want to so picked the noisiest instrument he could find to annoy her! It turns out he fell in love with the instrument and here we are today!”
