I eventually found myself playing with Robert Mathiesons Polkemmet Colliery in 1982 at the ripe old age of 16 having cut my teeth playing in Grade 4 with Forth and District pipe band. Now however I have attained the dizzy heights of Uphall Station Pipe Band we’re a non competing band but I just love playing so now I’m semi retired I wanted to play gigs more and VOILA here I am
However I’ve been over to Lorient Festival a couple of times and used to play at all the big football matches at Hampden back in the 80’s. I’ve played Live on French National Tv which was a fantastic experience and played at a couple of Beach weddings in Virginia USA. I’ve competed at all the major championships several times right up to Grade One however once work got in the road I settled for playing with a non competing band. Also played at the Breton Tattoo which was also a fantastic experience.
“We decided to have a piper at our wedding pretty much at the last minute and we booked Ross who turned out to be a fantastic addition to our magical day. His professionalism was exemplary and his playing did not dissapoint. He was very neat and precise in his dress code and was of a very friendly manner. He has a vast repertoire of tunes containing the old favourites as well as some more modern tunes as well. Highly recommended”
“Ross turned up at our wedding in plenty time and immaculately turned out. His playing was excellent and just as we had spoken about with him previous to our wedding. We both would highly recommend him as a wedding piper or indeed a piper for any occasion”
“Ross was an exceptional addition to our wedding service. He turned up early, as promised, to peruse the venue to ensure everything went smoothly. His uniform was of a very high standard. We found him to be very friendly with a lovely calm manner. His playing was exceptional and he provided what we had asked him to in a very professional manner. Ourselves and many of our guests would highly recommend him”
